Roofline refers to fascias, soffits, gutters, cladding and bargeboards.

Usually, fascias, soffits and gutters are found below the roofs and eaves of homes. Moreover, roofline products can be made out of uPVC or wood in some cases. Throughout this article, we discuss what roofline products are and how to know if they are damaged.

What are fascias and soffits?

Fascias and soffits are the boards that run beneath the eaves of the roof. The underside is the soffit, whereas the part with the gutter attached is known as the fascia.

What are bargeboards?

Bargeboards are often long strips of wood or uPVC. These are fixed to the gable end of the roof and protect the roof rafters.

How to know if the roofline is damaged?

Damaged rooflines can be noticeable through rotting, warping, damp problems and structural issues.

Flaking paint on the fascia, soffits or barge boards can also be obvious clues to the damaged roofline and can suggest its time for replacements. Hence, if the paint is flaking, it suggests that the boards are rotten and water will start to seep in.

Guttering is usually attached to the fascia with clips and hooks. If these are missing or damaged, it could suggest that the fascia board is rotting. Moreover, dripping gutters can cause damp problems if water is running down the walls.

Ensure you check for leaf blockages within the gutters too, to ensure the water can flow freely and drain away.

Is it time to replace your roofline?

If there is noticeable damage to your roofline, and there is visible rot or warping, it may be time to replace them.

Call St Helens Roofing for a free, no-obligation quotation on your fascias, soffits and gutters today. Hence, we can call out to your property to discuss your requirements and measure your roofline products. Furthermore, we can then provide you with your quotation, and replace your FSG products before the weather takes a turn.
